 Resort Recommendations ?
« Thread Started on Mar 15, 2005, 3:25pm »

Which resort on the beach would you recommend for someone traveling to Bermuda for the first time?

Are there any all-inclusive resorts in Bermuda?

Amethyst,

To my knowledge, there are no all-inclusive resorts in Bermuda. At best, you may be able to find a flight+hotel package, but I don't think you'll find anything with meals included. It is not like going to a resort in Cuba or Mexico, where you'd stay and play all week, participating in activities throughout the day at your resort and lining up for a buffet at dinner time. Is this the type of thing you're looking for?

You can find a list of hotels at www.bermuda.com. Elbow Beach Resort has a nice beach. I haven't seen the beach at the Fairmont Southampton, but last year when I was in Bermuda, construction was just starting to repair damage from the hurricane (a quarter of the hotel had been demolished!). I'm sure they've re-opened by now. Fairmont Hamilton Princess is right downtown, so there is no beach at that hotel. I've heard that Ariel Sands (which Michael Douglas owns shares in!) is very nice, as is Coral Beach.

Really, almost all of the hotels in Bermuda are very nice, as Bermuda is a very upscale island. Let me know if you have any specific questions I might be able to answer for you (and if I can't, I do have a friend who lives there who might be able to answer your questions).

Hi Am,
We've been to the island twice and loved it. We find that a cruise is the cheapest and best way to go.
Celebrity cruises has two ships that go there for seven day stays. They park right on the main street of Hamilton so your close to everything. our meals are included and are magnificent on the Celebrity line. Service is also super. Price out of Norfolk, Philly or N J is
about $1000 US per person for an oceanview. Ithink Royal Caribbean also cruises there for a liitle cheaper.

You will find Bermuda VERY expensive! I lived there for years, and you can't buy a hamburger for less then $10.00. Although the service in most restaurants is exceptional, it is an upscale island that costs alot. This is not the place to go for a cheap vacation.

In Fall 2005, my husband and I visited Bermuda. It is the most beautiful place. We stayed at Harmony Club. It was all inclusive. Not sure if it is still that way. Not directly on the beach but has beach access at Elbow Beach resort. One thing that we loved is the access to all the beaches.

Get a bus pass. Allows you to use all buses and ferries. Horseshoe beach is the most famous but there is a beach just east to that, that we found amazing. Very secluded and no one there. I believe it is called Jobson's Cove.

One place that we want to stay at (and it may have an all inclusive option) is 9 Beaches Resort. Look it up. Your own cabana right at the ocean.

Hope this helps

I'm so sorry to report to you that the government of Bermuda bought the Harmony Club in 2008 to provide accommodations for overseas police recruits. What fond memories that resort has left many people I'm sure.
