Hola:
I have tried searching the site for recommendations on which hotels to stay at in Toronto before the flight to Cuba, but have not had any luck.
So fellow travellers that fly via Toronto; which is your favourite hotel to stay at the night before flying to Cuba that offers parking for the week?
Thanks in advance.

check www.gtaa.com and under "arriving" click on "area hotels" there you will find many airport hotels. What I ensure is that the hotel has it's own dedicated shuttle and does not stop at any other hotels before arriving at the aiport. You will also have to make sure of the number of nights of free parking included, some include 7 nights others 14 others will charge you by the number of nights.

We usually stay at the Econolodge about 3 minutes from the Airport. The shuttle runs every hour to the Airport and when you arrive back in Toronto there is a 24 hr pick up upon demand.
You have the option of sleeping at the hotel before you go on holiday or sleeping there upon your return vacation. Parking is free for either of the options.
The price is approx. $100.00.

We opted for the Sheraton Gateway located right at the airport. Free parking and no hassels to get to the airport.

We live approximately 45 minutes from the Toronto airport (on a good day). Numerous times in the past we have booked one of the airport strips hotels solely to be able to park on site and have transportation to the departure terminal the morning of our flight. Recently we started using the airport authority off site parking and driving in the morning of our flight. Hwy 427 north to the Dixon Rd. cutoff which becomes Airport Rd. West on Airport Rd. past the T3 entrance. Turn right into the parking lot at or about where the monorail crosses the hwy. The monorail takes you to right to the Sheraton at T3. A short indoor walk and you are at the departure gate. It's about $65.00 per week with a downloaded internet discount coupon. I'm back in my car heading home upon returning before most people have even been picked up by the hotel limo service.

Sara, Yes, that is the parking lot I was referring to. I just had a quick look on the net for a discount coupon. Unfortunately there was nothing that I could see. Last February was the last time we flew and I was able to easily find a discount coupon on their site. gtaa.com/en/travellers/airport_information/parking/reduced_rate_lot/
Enjoy your trip! Dave

Like Sunnyone, I stay at the Carlingview. It's a lot nicer than it used to be (been staying there 20 years), and their shuttle runs 24 hours. Also - the shuttle only does the Carlingview and the Courtyard right next door, so there's no stopping on the way.
They have a long stay fenced and locked parking lot, and their drivers are really good about making sure that you are in your car and it is running before driving off (especially in the winter).

I stayed at the Carlingview (didn't park, though) in January 2007 en route to Miami and it was fine. The shuttle was really quick both ways and everyone at the hotel was very helpful. The rooms are exactly what you would imagine for an airport hotel but it was clean and quiet and cheap, which were the only three criteria I had. The fact that they had a little kitchen with help-yourself coffee and snacks was nice.

We have used the Sheraton Gateway on the last couple of trips through Toronto. Although we fly I noticed that they do have parking for the week there. We really like being able to leave a bag with our winter gear at the hotel while we are gone - as we never have to walk outside we leave and return dressed for the warmer climes!

Reduced Rate Parking: I got a link from CRDave on the Domincan forum for the coupon. It is good until the end of Dec 2009 but the prices have gone up a little bit. I used the coupon last month after I called the office and they said they'd still honour it but at the increased rates. 1 wk is now $70. So for 1 wk + 1 day it only cost me $68. They did ask me where I got the coupon and I said I'd printed it as soon as I booked my trip in April.
try this: http://www.bargainmoose.ca/wp-content/up....argainmoose.pdf
This worked great with the monorail, very quick!!!! Good luck

No one has mentioned yet that when you book your travel package the travel company/tour operators often have a stopover special with a particular hotel. Sometimes you'll see the info in the front of the sunquest travel book as an example. The company, like wholesale travel, Itravel will usually book the stopover for you at the same time as booking your package. We usually shop around or call the hotel direct and as long as you have your proof of sunquest (or whatever other company) you can get their rate. Some offer 14 day parking others only 7, I think i even saw one offering 21 days free! Worth checking out.
We've also used the reduced rate lot for the GTAA, park and fly, or the hotel/parking option, but rarely the drive the same day option in case of car trouble...and usually the flight times are REALLY early!

We like the Hampton at 3279 Caroga Drive Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, L4V1A3 1-905-671-4730 A little hard to find and it would probably be best to call them but the last time we stayed, we got a park and fly deal which includes a hot buffet breakfast and a dedicated shuttle to and from the hotel + 8 days parking. This shuttle doesn't go to any other hotels like most shuttles do. If you go through the reservation link on the page, continue to the room options and you should find a "park & fly'" deal. Bill

StageWest in Mississauga on Dixie Road is where we have stayed. All rooms are suites and have a microwave and fridge in each one. In the past you would have to have your travel agent call and book the room for you. It was considered a stopover rate with free parking for one week included. (They do have a covered garage.)
Call them for details - 905-238-0159 or 1-800-668-9887

We use the Crowne Plaza on Carlson Court. They have their own shuttle so no stopping at other hotels.
Only minus with them is sometimes it seems to take awhile for them to come and get you when you call.

We have used the Courtyard Marriott many times - comfy beds, decent rates, parking, reliable and frequent 24 hr airport shuttle, and the complimentary shampoo smells really yummy
We also like to stay there because we collect Marriott points so every now then get a free stay.

Where ever you book ie for shuttle, or breakfast, watch your departure times as they may not allow you to use a shutlle or the breakfast.

Yes, that's correct but that is only for 7 days-when you go away for a week you always pay for 8 days.e.g, parked at 3am for a flight leaving at 6am on a Thursday-arrival back it's at 4-4:30pm following Thursday -so it counts for eight days. You will see the corect price after you scan the coupon on your way out, so don't panic if you see $118 to pay
